Early Wrestling Career
He started his pro wrestling career in 2004, featuring in the New York Wrestling Connection. By 2006, he signed on to a developmental contract with the WWE. His in-ring name was Brian Major and was partnered up with Brett Major (real name Matt Cardona) to form the Major Brothers. He was first assigned to the Deep South Wrestling developmental territory. By 2007, Hawkins was transferred to the Ohio Valley Wrestling developmental farm along with his tag team partner Brett. In the 2007 Supplemental Draft, they were moved to SmackDown and quickly gained ground, defeating several tag teams, eventually getting a tag title shot after winning a battle royal. However, they were unable to beat the champions Matt Hardy and MVP in the title match.

The Major Brothers would soon be repackaged and remodeled. In Armageddon 2007, they turned heel by dressing as Edge. They were helping Edge by replacing him in key moments, taking hits and bumps. The Major Brothers were now called Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder (Myers and Cardona, respectively) and aligned themselves with Edge and his stable, La Familia. As part of their gimmick, they changed their wrestling gear to mimic those of Edge and were also referred sometimes as “The Rated R Entourage” and “EdgeHeads”. By July 2008, they had become WWE Tag Team Champions, winning the titles in a Fatal Four Way match in The Great American Bash, making them the youngest tag team champions in WWE history.

When Edge was put out of commission by The Undertaker, La Familia slowly disbanded and soon thereafter, the duo would lose their titles to Carlito and Primo Colon on September 2008. They both tried to enter in the last spot for the Elimination Chamber match but were easily defeated by The Great Khali.

In the 2009 WWE Supplemental Draft, the tag team was split by the WWE as Ryder was sent over back to ECW while Hawkins is still with SmackDown. Ryder now sports a new look during his re-debuted on May 2005. While Ryder has been seen back on TV, Hawkins still has to make his re-appearance.
