DH Smith is a professional wrestler currently assigned to the WWE’s ECW brand as David Hart Smith.
Personal Life
DH Smith was born David Smith. He is the son of Davey Boy Smith (The British Bulldog) and Diana Hart. He was born on August 2, 1986 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He is a member of the Hart family and his uncles are Bret and Owen Hart. Smith trained at a very young age. By eight, he was already training with his father and even appeared in the ring in a house show when he was 10 years old.
Wrestling Career
Smith started his professional career at age 15, eventually becoming a part of Stampede Wrestling promotion in Calgary. He even got to team with his father in a couple of occasions before Davey Boy died. Even though he received an offer from the WWE, he continued to wrestle in Stampede Wrestling and together with Jack Evans and Teddy Hart, formed the stable The Hart Foundation 2.0.
Smith spent most of his 2005-2006 embarking in a tour of Japan with New Japan Pro Wrestling. After recovering from a broken hand injury, he returned to Stampede Wrestling and also appeared in some dark matches (tryouts) for the WWE. On April 2006, he signed a developmental contract with the WWE after he attended Bret Hart’s Hall of Fame induction. Before he was sent to the developmental farms, he had already been in dark matches against Rob Conway, Mike Knox, and Randy Orton.
He debuted in Ohio Valley Wrestling in a tag team match with Kofi Kingston. After months in OVW, his next destination was to the Deep South Wrestling facility where he was reunited with his cousin, TJ Wilson.
After the WWE ended its partnership with DSW, Smith was assigned to Florida Championship Wrestling where he was crowned as the first ever FCW Southern Heavyweight Champion. He would later form The New Hart Foundation with his cousins Teddy Hart and Nattie Neidhart. Smith would switch from the FCW to OVW but his would reform the stable whichever developmental farm he was assigned to.
The New Hart Foundation was rumored to be introduced by Bret Hart in an episode of SmackDown but before plans were ironed out, Teddy Hart was let go by the company due to bad work habits. The WWE then assigned Smith in Raw, where he debuted as “DH Smith”. In his first match, he dedicated it to his father, even defeating Carlito using his father’s old finishing move, the running powerslam. His WWE career hit a snag when he was suspended for 30 days for violating the company’s Wellness Program. In his return, he was sent to SmackDown as part of the 2008 Supplemental Draft. He would, however, never appear in SmackDown. Instead, Smith was sent back to FCW to hone his skills and develop his maturity. In the 2009 Draft, he was sent to ECW where he was reunited with TJ Wilson and Natalya (Nattie Neidhart) and formed the stable “The Hart Dynasty”
